In the Future what do you think Hair Salons might be like?

Perhaps the Hairstylists will be replaced with machines programmed to do Perms, Straightening, Trims, and hundreds of other stlyes? Maybe colors that are not very popular today will be then Like Pink, Purple or Reds might become the common color intead of Blonde. And Perhaps maybe the salons will have Robots who wash and condition hair while giving great scalp massages and all you have to is sit down and slide your credit card.In the Future what do you think Hair Salons might be like?
I dont think so because nothing can replace the human touchIn the Future what do you think Hair Salons might be like?
Sounds good to me. I'd also love a robot that gives massages.

I think they all do.

Do hair salons have their best stylists under a certain listing, or is there a special way to ask for the best?

person at the salon? This ';stylist'; yesterday totally screwed my son's hair up and now I am having to take him someplace else. School is about to start and when we got home yesterday he went to his room, slammed his door and was crying. I want to do what I can to make sure I pick the right person to help us. He is 8 years old.Do hair salons have their best stylists under a certain listing, or is there a special way to ask for the best?
They usually have different titles... So the Junior Stylists are usually the ones who aren't that great.. I think....

Then the senior stylists are more expensive but better... I'm not too sure about the whole heirarchy of salons, but I know that them two are definitely in there xDo hair salons have their best stylists under a certain listing, or is there a special way to ask for the best?
it depends on what salon you go to- usually the cheaper ones like Great Clips, and Fantastic Sams only offer one level stylist (usually right out of beauty school), so you really can't ask for a different one there.

But if you go to a higher end salon, like Jade/Aveda or Paul Mitchell, or even Vidal Sasson, theres a price listing on how much per each level, i think its like beginner stylist, experienced stylist, master stylist? it depends on salon- some salons have 2 levels and some salons have 3 levels.

Also, read up on reviews of the salon and see who does the best hair- sometimes experieince doesn't always guarantee the best result. You can search http://www.yelp.com for salons in your areas that get rave reviews, and bad reviews.

good luck!

Stuff they spray in your hair at salons to make ur hair smooth?

whats that stuff they spray in your hair at the salon? everytime i get my haircut they like spray this stuff in it and that and i cannot stop touching my hair it feels so good and it doesnt get tangled either. the texture feels so amazing 2. does any1 no what its called? or do u no any that ur hairstylist uses that is similar?Stuff they spray in your hair at salons to make ur hair smooth?
that's pretty vague....ALL salons use DIFFERENT stuffStuff they spray in your hair at salons to make ur hair smooth?
if you get a shampoo at the salon prior to the cut, you should start there. a good shampoo and conditioner is the foundation to any style. the next time you get your haircut, ask your stylist about every product they pick up and use on you. they should be happy to tell you all about them. I know a lot of my clients LOVE the shine spray I use on them after I finishing blow drying.
It all depends on what they are doing to your hair...Like if theyre straightening it, they probably spray a heat protectant or a shine sealer on it. If your hair is curly, they probably use a mousse or leave in conditioner. Just ask them what they use because they usually carry the stuff they use in the store =)
mine use it's a 10 detangler. i don't know what yours uses, go in and ask them

I am a student, trying to make some extra cash this summer. I live in the Bronx , NY and I am trying to find a good salon that is in need of a hair braider. Kene, first you need to find out if your state requires braiders to be licensed cosmetologists. If you dont work with any chemicals at all, it might be ok. If so, then you should call around to your local salons and see if they are in need of someone with your skills. In the meantime, I would get together a portfolio of some photos of your work, so you can show perspective employers a sample of your work.

  • Do you think its ok for guys to go to tanning salons to tan?

I have heard alot on both sides and am wondering what you guys think!Do you think its ok for guys to go to tanning salons to tan?
    I think it s awesome.

Guy who takes care of himself...wants to look good.

I dont think there is somethnig wrong with guys go tanning...i think its stupid to think that if guy gonig tanning or doing highlightes or dresses very nicely then he is gay....

I had very awesome friend-male friend who would go tanning with me...who would go to mail salon with me....He just liked it...Cause he was always getting girls attansion for being so clean, shiny, neat and sexy!!

I say DO IT:)!!!!Do you think its ok for guys to go to tanning salons to tan?
well personally i go tanning, but that's really only because i have eczema and the tanning machines can do a pretty good job of getting rid of it.
I don't think it is ok for anyone myself. It increases your risk of skin cancer and you are damaging your skin. However, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't see that much of a problem with it. One of my guy friends used to go. If it helps a guy look like he wants to look, then he should go for it...if it wasn't damaging.
tanning is terrible for you. you sit on unsanitary surfaces under the rays of ultraviolet light for a long time. you could get some serious skin cancer. its NOT ok for anyone to go to a tanning salon and tan.
Depends if they like skin cancer or not.
Those places should carry a health risk warning. A girl I knew started going to those places as a teenager, by the time she was in her twenties her skin was so wrinkled and lined, she looked ill all the time.....I think the tanning salon had something to do with that
Wow for starters is it a bit(butch)or lesbian for girls to shave their upper lip or bleach it . (Not) Then it is no more gay for a guy to go tanning, I workout 5 days a week to build muscle and look good, I go tanning a couple times a week and if you do your homework you will find the tanning beds have less of the harmfull uvb rays that cause all the bad stuff and more of the uva which actually tans you.
Yes!! I wish more of them would!!
It's a bit gay, in my opinion, but of course it's ok. It isn't wrong, it's just a turn off to me. I wouldn't want my man going tanning, unless I dragged him there and made him go with me... but if he's totally up for tanning by himself, no thank you!
    its ok
Okay as in, like, morally? Probably. Okay as in am I personally okay with it? Ew blech no.
dude, no, no its not ok.
i would believe it would be ok
sure why shouldn`t a guy tan at a salon??? i think it`s great to see a guy who takes pride in his appearance %26amp; wants to look good...it`s true i prefer rock/punk guys but u don`t have to be pasty white to be a rocker dude!!!

Why are hairstylists at salons so damn rough with your hair?

I hate going to salons for that reason. They pull and pull hard, and also they run combs through your hair so hard and fast no matter how tangled your hair may be. I rarely ever go back to salons...Why are hairstylists at salons so damn rough with your hair?
Just tell them to be gentle, all good hairdressers usually ask how you are feeling whenever they are doing your hair, for example when they are washing shampoo out of your hair 'Is the water temperature ok?' or when they comb your hair they'll ask if its hurts. It just depends where you go, and if they actually care about doing their job.Why are hairstylists at salons so damn rough with your hair?
When you go in just tell them you are tender headed and take it easy when the comb you hair. That is what I would do. There is a special way to comb tangled hair and they really should know how to do that. You may need to just talk to them, trust me they want your money.

    Good luck.
Because they probably don't realize how much they're actually hurting people.

The worst is when it hurts so bad your eyes start to water. I probably look like an idiot crying at the salon. :P
They don't realize it...I mean, If you were doing someone's hair, would you realize how hard you were pulling? Just tell them when it hurts.

thanks.Do you have to use special tanning lotion from the salons while tanning?
You can use anything you want, cheap of not, as long as it is made for indoor use, not outdoor.Do you have to use special tanning lotion from the salons while tanning?
You don't HAVE to use what the tanning salon has over the counter. 9 out of 10 times you can buy that stuff cheaper on-line or at a beauty supply like Sally's (if yours carries the stuff). But DO make sure that the lotion you buy IS for IN-DOOR TANNING. Otherwise you can ruin the acrylic on the tanning bed. The tanning salon is all about making money. Notice the $40 and up pricing on the lotions. Also, if you're turning orange, you're probably using something with a bronzer or self tanner in it so whatever you buy, make sure it has NO bronzer in it. I just ordered off of this web-site and their stuff is MORE than reasonable. No, it's NOT my web-site. I came across it penny pinching since I just went back to my salon. Cheers!!! Oh and you can also check E-bay.

Is there any salons in seattle that do scene haircuts?

    i mean it doesn't even really need to be scene;

it just cant be granny. i just need some young person to do my hair i want it to be really cute. i want them to know what their doing ! im so tired of the blah hair. any help? Is there any salons in seattle that do scene haircuts?
well, i wouldn't know because i don't live in washington, but from my experiences, you don't need to find a professional scene hair cutter. you just need to find some one who is good at cutting hair and tell them you want really choppy layers so they can be teased out. it also helps to bring a picture of what you want. the one problem with scene hair is that it doesn't last all day. it only lasted like an hour in my hair. that's why i don't style my hair like that anymore, but scene hair is amazing. maybe it will work for your hair.

Hair salons will paint the hair with the dye, and then they will wrap it in tin foil, and i was wondering why they do that, what does the tin foil actually accomplish? Why do hair salons put tin foil on their hair when they are dying it?
It keeps it from spreading to the other parts of the hair you don't want dyed. The foil is usually used only for highlights or certain things you want done to one part of your hair. Why do hair salons put tin foil on their hair when they are dying it?
Foils separate colored hair from non colored hair. They may use different colored foils for different colored high-lowlights.

What do you think of Dominican Hair Salons?

Does it hurt when the do round brush?

I cut my hair in a bob kinda like Rihanna's and its starting to grow back. Do you think they can do it since its shorterWhat do you think of Dominican Hair Salons?
I've gone to them with my hair being short and they were able to do it. The Round Brush doesn't hurt it's more so the heat from the dryer they are using. It was uncomfortable in certain spots but nothing that will kill you. Make sure you have them do a doobie wrap for you before you leave and keep it wrapped up for a few hours. The curl pattern is going to be really tight when they finish so your hair may look like a little mushroom but it will fall nicely. Also they are going to ask you if you want body or straight. Body will make it fuller and straight will be....well straight! so it's just a matter of preference. They don't really style so don't expect to come out with your hair bumpin like at a traditional salon. What do you think of Dominican Hair Salons?

For those who have gotten facials from salons?

Is there any difference from a facial and just washing a face at home?

How does it feel? Is it worth it? Does your skin look better afterward? For those who have gotten facials from salons?
I love getting facials. It doesn't even compare to washing your face at home because the person doing it spends alot of time on it and usually goes through a whole bunch of different steps. It feels great, skin looks good afterwards, and its very relaxing. YOu should try it for yourself and see what you think. For those who have gotten facials from salons?
Oh there is a world of difference! If you get a facial done at an upscale salon, the environment is going to be very relaxing. Quiet music, dim lights, you get to close your eyes and relax. They'll usually put your hands and feet into a moisturizing cream while they do it also. If you have blackheads or impurities in your skin, which everyone does, they use a highly magnified device to look for all of them and extract them. You'll have products used on you that simply can't be used in a home setting. Also they will use the absolute best products catered to your skin. The right cleanser, the right moisturizer, etc. Most of the time they'll massage your neck, face, and upper shoulders as well. Totally worth it, and your skin (at least for me) will look way better than one can get at home.
Perhaps at salons, the facial scrubs/masks/treatments may be organic or higher quality. Probably less fillers, and more natural ingredients which help to rejuvinate your skin. After a facial at the salon your skin probably will look healthier and refreshed.
    theirs definitely a big difference.

it feels pretty good, it takes like about an hour.

its deff. worth it !! :]

your skin does look better. it looks shinier, and smoother and clean %26amp;%26amp; pretty !!

What is the normal tip for top stylist at hairdressing salons in London? ?

could i just use normal cheap lotion?

because i think the salon lotion is actually starting to make me orange...

and don't give me ';tanning is bad'; answers.

    i don't care

i'm not going to choose you as a best answer if you don't answer my question.

thanks.Do you have to use special tanning lotion from the salons while tanning?
Cheers!!! Oh and you can also check E-bay.
    no

Any rules by state board against having dogs in salons?

I am specifically asking if the state board can fine this stylist when they come around to inspect the salon? How much would a 'scene' hair cut be at H Salons?

each salon is different in price, so I would call and ask..How much would a 'scene' hair cut be at H Salons?
Ask how much it is for a hair cut in which ever salon your going to and it should be around 拢12 or more it depends. And they'll cut it any way you want it to be and you won't have to pay extra unless your getting it colored :)
I love the look of scene cuts, every salon is different as far as prices,I would just give them a call and ask them what they charge.

Does anyone know of any Salons in the need of a braider?

I am a student, trying to make some extra cash this summer. I live in the Bronx , NY and I am trying to find a good salon that is in need of a hair braider. I am really good, and I can do box braids, tree braids, cornrows, twist (natural and with extensions) and much more. I braid in school during the school year, but I need to find a place to braid, during the summer. I can send pics, if needed.Does anyone know of any Salons in the need of a braider?
Kene, first you need to find out if your state requires braiders to be licensed cosmetologists. If you dont work with any chemicals at all, it might be ok. If so, then you should call around to your local salons and see if they are in need of someone with your skills. In the meantime, I would get together a portfolio of some photos of your work, so you can show perspective employers a sample of your work.

if the lady who is doing your eyebrows seems to be distracted, or talks alot when doing them, you should only give her around 2 dollars, but if she is a hard worker and concentrates, then maybe around 3-4 dollars, but then again if she seems snobby, maybe no tip ? teach that lady a lesson [:
Well if I was feeling generous I would give them 5 dollars if it was great, 3 dollars if it was okay, and if it was bad 1 for trying never come again and complain (not to the boss) . If it was worse 50 cents and then talk to the boss.

yes!! it's legalIs it legal to have two beauty salons owned by different people next to each other?
unfortunately yeah its legal. your mom can offer deals or advertise in newspapers, beauty magazines, etc, to get an edge over the lady whos movin in on her territory. after a while she will probably establish herself and if she hires the best employess, the other lady will go down in no time! ;)
Yes, why wouldn't it be legal? It's not like it's a monopoly where your mom bought every salon in the us.
yeah its legal, but theres likely to be competition between the two salons.
yes it is very legal it is for competition purposes just out do them
yes its legal, there will just be compitition.
    yes dear, its called competition.

Well, in New York, it can't be too hard to find a salon that has products to fit your needs. Most beauty supply stores carry plenty of products made for black hair, I don't know specifically what products you need or what brands you like but I reckon you have a good chance of finding it no matter which one you go to.

I got burnt out of going to salons for facial. I was wondering if anyone here know what are those products they use? I remember one time they have this super cool mask they put on me that stings a little. Can someone tell me what this is?What are those mask that the salons use?
No way to answer this. Each salon uses the skin care brand of their choice. If your girl was good at what she does she should have told you exactly what products she was using on you. Masks are used for a couple of reasons...one to add moisture and another to suck up oil and dirt from pores. If the mask was like a gel..most likely it was to add moisture...if it was like clay most likely it was to clean pores. The clay ones tend to have menthol or pepermint and that can cause a bit of a sting....

When do I tip for hair salons?

I haven't gone to a hair salon for a long time. Do I pay the tip as soon as the person who cuts my hair is finished, or do i just add it into the cost of the haircut? Or is there some kind of jar to put it in? Any help is appreciated, thanks! When do I tip for hair salons?
15 to 20% is more than fine. Hairdressers make A LOT more than a waitresses regular rate of like $3/hr.

When she or he takes your money at the register, you hand them the tip and say this is for you. If someone else checks you out, you can give them the tip and say ';please give this to my stylist.';When do I tip for hair salons?
You can either hand it straight to them. or leave it at the desk. Either is acceptable.

Oh, and your stylist is more knowledgeable and talented than a restaurant waiter right? So tip more than the 15 percent you're used to tipping at dinner.
You add it when they are all done!
when they are fishin withyour hair then you could tip them if you want to

I've enjoyed going to Le Salon Day Spa. It's in my neighborhood (of Edgewater on Broadway) and just opened about 5 months ago. So far I've only gotten a facial (which was divine- and CHEAP! They had a $60 special that day). And I got an upper lip and eyebrow wax there. With the wax I was really impressed with how thorough they were. I like it enough that I'm going to go back pretty soon to see what they can do for highlights and a hair cut.

How much *average* do hair salons charge to dye your hair?

I want to dye my hair and I know nothing about dying hair so im gunna go to a place, how much does a salon usually charge? How much *average* do hair salons charge to dye your hair?
A salon can charge a minimum of 50 dollars. but then again it depends on the type of dye that you use, the tip, the length of your hair, how many colors you want, and if you have any special requests. Im thinking it may be between 50-80 though. How much *average* do hair salons charge to dye your hair?
The proper term for colouring hair is tint, or colour. ';Dye'; is only used on fabrics, doesn't really do good things to hair. Be careful what you ask for!

This is the wrong place to ask about prices. The shop around the corner has different pricing than the bigger one down the street. And my city is different than your city.

The thing you do, which has already been explained so many times before, is that you call the place you plan on visiting and ask them! In fact, call 2-3 shops, schools too .... get some idea of prices in your area. Always go to the source. Then you will know for sure.
    40?50?

What should I ask tanning salons in order to find the safest one?

There is no such thing as a safe tan. Tanning occurs when the skin darkens in order to protect itself from being damaged too much by UV rays. Tanning indicates that damage has already occurred. Repeated damage can lead to skin cancer. What should I ask tanning salons in order to find the safest one?
All are unsafe, all say they are safe and safer than the others. All lie.

What are the news to hydrate the hair in the beauty salons?

My hair is brown, long, straight and dry and I already use Redken as well only professional products.

Thank you all! What are the news to hydrate the hair in the beauty salons?
    Ol谩 amiga

bjWhat are the news to hydrate the hair in the beauty salons?
Well my hair is brown, long, and curly. It's healthy - not dry. But my curls do frizz up a bit. I think something like a revitalizing serum would help your hair. I used to use Biolage and there is a certain one meant to moisturize/hydrate hair. I'm pretty sure it's called hydrate. I used that and it totally kept my hair healthy and silky smooth. If you are curious why I don't use it anymore, it's because Pantene is more affordable for me.

But Biolage is the best shampoo/conditioner I have ever used.
the organic root stimulator products are great for dry hair, I would recommend you to leave the conditioner for a few minutes to let it work.

also, it's very important that you have a good diet, if you eat healthy your hair will look healthy.

Any recommendations on hair salons in Chicago?

I'm looking for a new stylist in the city. I like the Aveda Institute but they are always booked. Is there any where else that is relatively cheap but does a good job? Thanks!Any recommendations on hair salons in Chicago?
Honestly, I would start looking at men / women that you come into contact with (grocery store, airport, work, library etc.) and just say hi to them , say you like their hairstyle and wonder if they would tell you who their hairstylist is.

I think you would get better advice in seeing ';samples'; of their work in real life than here on answers.

I am not sure how much Aveda charges, but I can tell you that there are millions of salons in Chicago. I got a great tip on a hairstylist once from a cashier. Unfortunately, the hairstylist moved out of state! When you get a good one, do your best to keep them!

  • Are there special beauty salons for feminists?

I guess I'm thinking of a salon in which a less feminine look is the goal? Are there special beauty salons for feminists?
I doubt much could be done about the personality side of things, so surely there's gotta be something for the visual side of things. Are there special beauty salons for feminists?
First, not all feminists seek to look less feminine. Mom haircuts are usually the purview of the soccer mom set, aren't they?

Most salons will respect your wishes in regards to your appearance. If you ask for a cut that will make you appear more androgynous, they will probably comply (especially if you have a picture so they know exactly what you want).
I have never heard of a feminist salon. I do not believe they exist. What is your source for feminists wanting to look less feminine? This is a gross overgeneralization. Feminism is not about wanting no distinction between the sexes.
Statements like that indicate an inability to think logically, which results in sexism, causing you not to be able to reconcile women's rights as not having anything to do with looks. Shallowness, and an inability to think logically.
    Yes. Its called McDonalds.

Are there any black salons in Cape Town, South Africa that specialize in relaxers?

I'm going to be traveling to Cape Town for a couple of months and I was looking to get my hair done while I was there. I'm particularly looking for salons that have mizani, affirm, or design relaxers.

    Thanks!

Are there any black salons in Cape Town, South Africa that specialize in relaxers?
I would check with the major 4-5 star hotels in the city and see what type of spas/salons they have, or can refer you too. Hopefully since the end of apartheid their offering of services should have diversified to handle international clientele. Otherwise, take a quick lesson, and pack your own if you can. I know I would. Are there any black salons in Cape Town, South Africa that specialize in relaxers?
    sorry but there's none

What training is required for those who give massages in salons?

are spa services just part of cosmotology school or have they specifically studied massage therapy? What training is required for those who give massages in salons?
Large breasts and a whole lot of sexinesss oh yehh! What training is required for those who give massages in salons?
Yes, they are CMTs/LMTs. Massage school is a whole separate entity from cosmetology school. Cosmetology covers hair, nails, and makeup. A cosmetologist would be permitted to massage the hands and feet while giving nail services and the scalp while giving hair services, but they are not educated on the anatomy, physiology, pathology, etc.,etc., of the rest of the body. To offer full-body massage to the public, one has to have all the qualifications required by the state one lives in, including completing an approved program of a certain length, passing national exams, etc.
The best way to become a massage therapist is to attend a massage therapy school. You will learn not only the proper techniques in hands-on practice, but you will also study academic topics like anatomy and physiology, pathology, kinesiology, as well as history and theory. It is just as important to understand why you are doing a particular technique as well as how it affects the body. Plus, you will also have many opportunities to practice the art of massage.

Tanning Beds and Tanning Salons. How bad are they for your body?

I need some interesting information for my presentation.

thank you.Tanning Beds and Tanning Salons. How bad are they for your body?
Lawmakers around the country are turning up the heat on the tanning bed industry, blaming the popularity of indoor tanning among young people for rising skin cancer rates. But new scientific research on the benefits of vitamin D has clouded the debate.

    ';We know the cause of skin cancer鈥攖oo much ultraviolet light,'; says James Spencer, vice-chair and director of dermatologic surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. ';We could prevent that, and yet, the incidence of skin cancer is rising, letting us know that we're still getting too much ultraviolet light.';

    Indoor tanning is especially popular among teenage girls, which worries dermatologists like Spencer. ';When you look at the population and who's going to indoor tanning, it's young people, teenagers, most often young women,'; he says. ';And this is the peak of their sensitivity, this is the time when they should be avoiding this the most.';

study of the tanning behavior of white American teens, using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (';Add Health';) confirmed those concerns. ';Fully 24 percent of the teens in our study ... used an indoor tanning facility at least once,'; says Catherine Demko of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals of Cleveland. ';Females were far more likely to use it than males, and by the time girls were 18 or 19 years old, about 47 percent reported that they had used an indoor tanning facility three or more times.'; The study, published in the journal of Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, suggests that teenagers don't see tanning as potentially dangerous behavior.

    While the Indoor Tanning Association warns consumers to avoid burning, ';I am not satisfied with the message that burning is bad, but tanning is good,'; says Kevin Cooper, professor and chair of the department of dermatology at Case Western Reserve University. ';There's no way you can get a tan without damaging the skin, That's what the tan is.'; Cooper says the message should be ';that whatever color you are is OK, that's it's not necessary for you to be dark in order to be accepted.';

    But some researchers think if we avoid the sun, we are preventing our bodies from getting vitamin D, which our skin needs sunlight to produce. ';Vitamin D has always been recognized as being very important for child bone health, and vitamin D deficiency of course causes rickets in children,'; says Michael Holick, professor of dermatology, medicine physiology and biophysics at Boston University Medical Center. ';But we also know that vitamin D is really clinically important throughout our entire lives, not only for bone health, but for a wide variety of physiological processes.';

Vitamin D together with calcium is known to protect against bone diseases including osteoporosis and osteomalacia in adults. And a growing body of evidence shows that vitamin D may also protect against diseases such as multiple sclerosis, hypertension, depression, and colon, breast and prostate cancers.

    The Institute of Medicine has set 200 international units of vitamin D as the adequate allowance for adults under fifty鈥攖hat's two glasses of milk a day. But research by Holick and others suggests we need five times that amount. ';We think that you need 1000 international units of vitamin D a day,'; says Holick. '; So even if you drank one or two glasses of milk a day and one or two glasses of orange juice each day, you're getting no more than 20 to 40 percent of the vitamin D requirement that truly satisfies your body's needs.';

    Holick and others say the best way to get that amount is moderate exposure to sunlight鈥?quot;typically for a white person say in New York or in Boston that would be no more than probably 5 to 10 minutes on your arms and legs, or your face, hands and arms, two to three times a week,'; he says. ';I then recommend that you put sunscreen on with a sun protection factor of at least 15.';

    The tanning industry has embraced Holick's research, leading the American Academy of Dermatology to issued a statement saying that ';reports linking the health benefits of Vitamin D to unprotected sun exposure mislead the public.';

';You do not need to go to the beach or the tanning parlor to raise your vitamin D鈥攁nd get wrinkles and skin cancer鈥攚hen you can just simply eat a balanced diet and take vitamin supplements if you want,'; says Spencer. ';We don't really know that vitamin D prevents cancer. To say that vitamin D prevents cancer is a wild speculation. To say that ultraviolet light causes skin cancer is a fact.';Tanning Beds and Tanning Salons. How bad are they for your body?
tanning beds increase your risk of skin cancer, it burns the retna and cornea in yours eyes, its harmful to your DNA, if you use them too often they make you age faster and they burn your skin badly, they supress immune systems. the UV rays that are let off are just HORRIBLE for your skin. I do tan in beds, and i know they also dry out your skin like no other and sometimes lotion doesnt help! id say they're pretty bad!

I live in the area, and I love to go to Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon. They do a fabulous job on everything. I went there today as a matter of fact. It can be a little pricey, but it depends on what you get. They treat you VERY nice and the place is clean too. They offer drinks when you walk in the door, and the people that work there are very kind and good people to talk to. I go to the Plano one in the Willowbend Mall. A haircut by its self is $45 and with a style, blowdry, and finish, its $61 but its very good quality. If you decide to go here, please make an appointment because I do not think they accept walk-ins.

Like the trimming that falls on the floor, they'll throw that out. Unless they're a creep that likes to collect hair for their own personal pleasures. But when they cut it off in a pony tail, they'll donate it if you ask.
um...im pretty sure that they just throw it out!, if its really long they may ask you to donate it though, in that case they sell it to make wigs and extensions, but i can't help you with the pricing sorry!
Sweep it up and throw it away.

Sometimes, They might keep the hair, and use it for a gardens(I can't remember what for.), and probley could make wigs out of it too.
They sweep it up and sell it to cheap Italian restaurants to serve with marinara as high-protein angel hair pasta. lol Nah, they simply trash it. :-)

Yes there is. It makes the hair incredibly shiny. The cost would depend on your hair and the salon, but plan on at least $60 +. Also try the rest of the Sebastian Laminates line for added shine.

No. Our culture is so focused on women being ';tan'; and ';beautiful,'; but there is absolutely nothing wrong with men getting a tan at a salon. Is it Weird for Men to Use Tanning Salons?
No i used to work at a tanning salon and plenty of guys came in to tan.
I don't do it myself, but I wouldn't consider it weird at all. I'm sure there are several male models that do it.
    Yes, it looks gay.

I want to dye my hair vivid pink, where can i get hair dye, will salons have these colours?

I also heard that someone did this by bleaching their hair and then dying it with food-colouring. Would that really work?

Is there a realible product that is sold in vivd colours?I want to dye my hair vivid pink, where can i get hair dye, will salons have these colours?
I'm pretty sure professional hairdressers will do a good job with pink. However, if your thinking of doing it at home. You can bleach your hair then buy a brand called 'Paint box' in pink. They're available at Priceline stores (if your in Australia).I want to dye my hair vivid pink, where can i get hair dye, will salons have these colours?
Going to a salon would be the best bet for the longest lasting pink. If you want it really bright and have dark hair, you will want to bleach it first. Request that the hair stylist make the dye up with deposit only. This will make the pink last a bit longer, and since you already bleached your hair there is no need for the lightener to be in the mix. But beware that pink will fade pretty fast, so don't rely on the pink staying in forever. Hot Topic and Sally's pink dye will fade in about a week. From the stylist, so far, my pink has stayed in for a month now. It has faded, but is still pretty bright. I hear Paul Mitchell has some good pink dye. Not sure of the brand my stylist used.
i got my bright pink hair dye from a goth shop

    its by stargazer

the food colouring will wash out as soon as you wash you hair.

in superdrug and wilkos they sell pink hair dye kits

these are all good ideas but its best to prelightnen your hair if your hair is dark

sally's or hot topic-i heard they have alot of colors, but idk about hot pink

    Hi Pinky B,

Brazilian waxing is something which is still not much in fashion. But ofcourse its catching up mainly in the metros. Frankly speaking there is not much salons in Chennai offering Brazilian waxing for women. 'Google' nail or hair salons... they normally offer brazilian waxing. You'd have to be more specific about your location (zip code, etc) for us to further help you. The average cost is $50 US. You can also buy a ';do it yourself'; home-kit at any grocery store.
Any 5 star hotel will do it. Just call and ask to speak to the person who does waxing and ask for a full bikini wax. I have been to the Taj and it costs around 1000 rupees. This is for the full bikini and the full leg wax.

How much does it usually cost for salons to straighten hair?

I dont have very long hair...its about up to my chest...and my hair is naturally curly... i know each store has different prices... but i just want to know an estimate of how much it might cost...$10? $20? $50? $100?How much does it usually cost for salons to straighten hair?
like 75-90How much does it usually cost for salons to straighten hair?
It depends the experience of the person working on you and what it is they use to straighten it. Also the area you are in. If they use a perm and comb it through it will be the cheapest, then relaxers, then the most expensive a straightening system. Call around.

If you are talking about just straightening it for a day it shouldn't be too expensive. But don't expect it to hold all day if it is really humid.
I think it costs about as much as a perm- I had mine done once and that is about how much it cost because they simply put perm solution through my hair (but my hair was naturally straight). However, my stepdaughter tried it before and hers is naturally curly. It was curly the next time she washed it. She uses a hair straightener when she wants her hair straight (it works great!).
Buy a Sedu, I just bought one and it's amazing! It works so fast, it keeps my hair straight all day.

depends on what kinda hair you naturally have.%26amp; which salon u go to

my hair is naturally straight but i wanted to make it nicer so i went %26amp; mine was 17 bucks.
I would think a little over $20 and I hate to say it but it is more for black people only because it takes a lot more work to straighten there hair
Use the money to buy a really good hari straightner and hair products.. Striaghten your hair on good days. If its rainy/humid out or to hot - keep it curly...
For one time? Like not permanent? 30-45
    $100
i think it depends on which salon u go to. My fav salon is somewhere idon't know. but it costs like around $40-$60.

I'm going to a beauty school in October, and my admissions director wants me to go to some salons/spas and introduce myself and ask about their business, and tell them when I'll be licensed and available. Is this a common thing? What do i say when I go to these future potential employers? Should I just wait until I am licensed, or is opening up communication before then idea?

I need help with this, I've never heard of doing this.Going to Esthetician school (part of beauty school) in October. Supposed to visit spas/salons and introduce?
This is common. I'm not an esthetician but at one time I had my own day spa. Massage schools and Esthetician schools did send people over to experience it firsthand, to pick up brochures and business cards and to bring a receipt if they had at least 1 treatment.

It is normal and ok to go into a spa and ask to speak to the director or other esthetician. It allows you to network, gets you some help from seasoned workers, and shows you what it's like in the ';real world'; outside of your school.

    What you say, ';Hi, I'm training to be an esthetician. I was just wondering if I could ask you a few questions?';

    1. How long did it take you to build up your clientele?

    2. How long have you been an esthetician?

    3. What products do you use?

    4. What is the age-range of most of your clients?

    5. What is sought out more, facials or waxing?

    6. How do you market toward men?

Is it true that the manicurists that speak in other languages at nail salons make fun of their clients?

I've heard multiple times that they're always mocking the people that they're giving a manicure or pedicure to.Is it true that the manicurists that speak in other languages at nail salons make fun of their clients?
hahah! ive wondered that myself, too. i go to vietnamese hair salons, and this is exactly what happens. im chinese, so i wouldnt understand what the heck the salon ladies are talking about in viet. i also cant understand my own language that well, either.

but, if youve seen this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsWrY77o7… that's exactly what happens. Is it true that the manicurists that speak in other languages at nail salons make fun of their clients?
easy ';Melissa who loves the jonas brothers'; your just jealous of her, PLUS your name just says how lame you are ';loves the jonas brothers';.

and ive always wondered that too :) i wouldnt be surprised..and ive never got my nails done.
Not only manicurists, but any business where staff are of a different culture

Asian tattooists even write the wrong words on their clients.
tat is true of most people in most professions that have not reached that level of maturity and professionalism that makes such actions silly at best and cruel at the worst.
    OMG

i go to this nail salon where all these korean ladies work and i always have these sneaking suspicions that they make fun of my skin.

  • How do you find good salons?

I just moved to a new city.

Other than looking in a phone book, how am I supposed to find a good hair salon? How do you find good salons?
Ask around. If you see somebody whose hair looks good, ask them where they went. Go to the hair salons that you hear are good and look around, and ask the workers about price, if appointments are needed, and how long they take to fill up. Chances are that all the good places will only have appointments and will book up pretty fast and the place will look really nice too. Really though, you just have to try places until you find what works for you!How do you find good salons?
Try to find a local stylist with their own salon, they always do the best work.
word of mouth. and unfortunately sometimes its trial and error.
yelp.com is a good source for reviews of just about every local business. Give it a try.

Word of mouth...The locals will let you know whose good and bad...You just need to ask around...

Do most really high quality salons only take cosmetologists with clientele?

the salon i want to work at is called DL Lowry, and i have a feeling they only hire if you have a clientele, what is a good starting salon in indianapolis?Do most really high quality salons only take cosmetologists with clientele?
Well first off call them and ask. There is nothing wrong with that! Clientele is more important when you are starting your own business. (I was previously in cosmetology) %26amp; i remember that whole section.

Anyone know of any nail salons in Central NJ that do not use drills and use real products and not immitation?

I don't know of any nail salons in central NJ, sorry, But, every time I have ever been to a nail salon, they used a drill. They have to use one. Your nails need to be roughed up. If they didn't do that, then the acrilic wouldn't stay on for long. I'm not sure what you mean by them using immitation products. I never had any problem with that before. They always use the real stuff.
